One author in Calibre, two on device?

This is a very minor problem, but it has irked me for quite a while.

Image one shows the 6 PGW boooks I have in my library. It also shows that all have the exact same author name. This is further confirmed when I try entering the author name into the relevant metadata field - only one entry is listed in the dropdown list.


Image 2 shows what I see on my device: TWO listings, one book has the author's name without periods, the other 2 show it with periods - the other 3 books are not on the device.

I have tried everything I can think of to merge them, but nothing has worked. I've tried copy and pasting the author name from one of the 'correct' listings into the one 'rogue' book, it made no difference. When I delete the one book from the device and disconnect it from Calibre a check of the folders on the device shows only one Wodehouse folder. Reconnect the deivce, send the book to the device and hey presto!, back to 2 folders again.

As I plan to add several more PGW books to my library, is there any way to fix this?

The photo is of my Libra H2O, the situation is the same on my Sage

The Quality check plugin can FIX the Author initials (of selected books) so they all have the same format (you set what you want)

Delete the books, then disconnect the Kobo let it rebuild. Then resend. Also make sure not just the author but the author sort values for all the books are the same in calibre.

When you disconnect the kobo it rescans the files and rebuilds its book list. Basically disconnect, wait 5 mins then re-connect.
