add date/time emailed (connect/share) to a custom column

I can't quite wrap my head around how to populate a custom column with the date and time that a book was emailed. I believe I can log the date / time with today() in a plugboard, but unsure of the exact code or where to store the value.

If it's too difficult to populate with a date and time, I'd settle for a boolean field. This can trigger when it's emailed to any email address / device.

Thanks all.

I've used Action Chains to run an arbitrary action and then populate a custom column with the current datetime. Pretty much anything available as a menu item can be used.

You'll need to always run it from Action Chains, though.

Some more detail to use Action Chains to make this automatic.
  • Create a chain with 2 actions:
    1. send the selected book(s) by email (Calibre actions / Connect share / Email to ...)
    2. set the custom date/time column to today (Single Field Edit of your custom column).
  • If you wish, give the chain a keyboard shortcut.
  • Then use the chain to send your book(s) instead of the standard Connect / share option.
If you need help, ask in the Action Chains thread.
