Running Calibre on my Mac, the power cycled and now Calibre says my library is corrupted. It asks if I want it to try and rebuild it. I tell it to go ahead. It gives me an error, saying that "Restoring database failed." When I look at the details, it says:
Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre/db/restore.py", line 151, in run Exception: Something bad happened What do I try now? The library and its files exist. It looks like the database is bad. Can I fix it? Or, can I somehow import the books into another library? The books still exist, so it's not a total loss. I would hate to have to enter them all again by hand. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. thrak |

Aha! I just tried adding books to a new library. It asked me for a folder and it's grinding away now. That looks like the solution to my problem. I'll know for sure in a few hours.

@thrak
If your database has corrupted itself once then in all likelihood it will happen again unless you find the root cause. Please ensure that the directories where Calibre is storing its data is not on a NAS device or a One drive/idrive/google/any old cloud based backup system. Any system that has a 2 way backup /sync will cause corruption at some point. |

I have yet to see him EVER apologize. Even when he is blatantly in the wrong. The most we can hope for is a timeout for him harassing members with his behavior.

Memtest and hard drive health check are a good place to start. I don't know of tools to do that for Mac, though.
