Question Calibre "won't start properly"

Hi,
i have been using Calibre for ages and have been running version 6.17. since it's release on Windows 10 (10.0.19045).
Yesterday i started moving books to different individual databases. After a session of moving books I closed calibre.

When starting it now, it loads but then seems to get stuck in the task bar without the ability to maximise the window.

So far I have tried the following:
- removing the current version, cleaning registry, reboot, installing ==> same result
- all antivirus deactivated
- removing the current version, cleaning registry, reboot, installing previous version ==> no change
- same procedure with all antivirus/malwarebytes deactivated ==> no change
- installing current version again

- and I tried with both versions starting calibre without the "regular" db alas with the same result

and now I am at a loss and hope someone has the time to check this.

Either way thanks for your help/time.

Possible Video driver issue? Have you updated the driver (using the manufacturers version)?

Or the calibre window is off-screen. Try right-clicking on an empty area of the task bar and choosing "Cascade windows." This is easier if other open apps are closed.

Thanks, but unfortunately no suggestion worked.
Drivers are the current version.
Stacking windows is deactivated.

Did you try a shift-right click on the calibre icon in the taskbar and then selecting move? Then use the right and/or right arrows to move the application back onto the screen. One gotcha is the if the application is full screen, move will be greyed out.

Would the preview be blank if it was just off screen?

How did you do that?

Cascading (stacking) windows should not be confused with stacking (combining) taskbar buttons, preventing the latter is doable via Taskbar settings.

Cascade does not provide previews, it produces 'normal' windows resized and repositioned. Which is why it's recommended other active programs be closed before using it; if they're not then their windows will also be resized and repositioned.
