Troubleshooting Kindle 2 - can it still sync with Amazon store?

I found my old Kindle 2 and I'm playing around with it to see if it still works. One issue I have is that it cannot sync with Amazon or visit the Kindle store even though wifi is working.

Can the Kindle 2 still sync with Amazon to download purchases? Or is it so old that it's not supported anymore?

Any info is appreciated.

The K2 uses cell towers for a connection, not WiFi. Depending on the version, it used Sprint or AT&T. My understanding is providers no longer supper the slower 3G connections.

It's also my understanding that books already purchased can be downloaded, but you can't access the store anymore. Of course if there is no 3G connection, nothing will work for wireless download directly to the Kindle.

The "download and transfer" option will still be available.

If the K2 is still registered to your Amazon account you can download books using download-and-transfer from the website on a PC and transfer them to the Kindle via USB.
