Can't delete image reference from book
There are two images in an .azw3 book, and using Editor I deleted one of them from the image section, and also from the reference from the metadata file. I save all the files, but then when I reopen, not only is the image reference there again, but the image itself reappears.
I've done an internal search of all files and there is no other reference to it, and yet it reappears every time. However, text edits I make to the html files are saved and appear without problem. Can anyone suggest what's going on here? Using Calibre 6.14 |

Deleting from the Images section should leave a 'missing image' icon where used. Those should be adjusted (most likely, deleted)
![]() That shows the images, size and how many usages. Double click on the image and it takes you to the (code) place used (tested single use) ![]() ![]() It is rare that you should resort to editing the OPF directly. The Editor reflects the edits there. But that does not account for a resore of the Image file deleted in 'Images' section |

Edit and the book (format) are not aware of the other EXCEPT during conversion. |

No not on a synced drive at all. The Calibre library is just buried on the C drive.

I remove generic covers and thumbs all the time. ![]() ![]() certain operations always start with that. There is a tweak that controls that ID: save_original_format |

Upload a copy of the book and detail which images you removed and keeps reappearing.
If the book is copyright, you might need to scramble it. |

In the manifest section of the metadata file there is this line:
<item id="id2" href="images/00002.jpeg" media-type="image/jpeg"/> This I delete, and then delete the image. There is no other reference to that image anywhere in the files, and yet after saving and reopening, it appears again. There has to be some kind of code hidden somewhere that pulls that image from some place and adds it to the manifest file. The only other possibility is that the 'save' function of editor is not working. Edit: I just tried to change the title, when I reload the title is not changed. The save function of editor isn't saving clearly, even though the animation says it is. Last edited by JollyRoger; 04-02-2023 at 06:37 PM. |

What OS are you using ?
Are you running the calibre book editor from the calibre library manager, or running it directly? BR Last edited by BetterRed; 04-02-2023 at 07:05 PM. |

The save function works as I have just altered some random parts of text and titles etc and that all works fine. Just for some reason that line from the manifest keeps restoring itself. Where is it getting it's info from? There's 10 html files to this book and there's no mention of the image in any of those files. |
