New (non-amazon) cover distorting writing accuracy

I bought a new cover, after the original one started fraying.

Now, when I’m writing, on certain areas of the screen the accuracy is off by a good 5 mm.

I know that the new cover is causing this - it goes away immediately I remove it from the cover. It’s one of the covers that you snap the ereader into a solid frame. When I put it back in, the problem is back! Therefore I have to send the cover back, sadly, as I like it apart from this.

I had an anxiety dream about it last night, in which the screen shattered, so I’ll be initiating sending it back today.

Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Back to the original amazon cover for me.

I wonder if, for some strange reason, it has magnets in it that could be interfering with the stylus recognition. I can’t think of a reason that squeezing the Kindle would cause this. Who knows?

So I think the Wacom EMR stylus used on Scribe and reMarkable could be affected by magnets.

I'm curious to test magnets on the four kinds of pen/stylus I have or have access to. There seem to be two basic kinds of Wacom stylus. The original sort (still in use) was used even before Wacom was founded nearly 30 years ago.

Yeah, re magnets, the place where the pen was becoming inaccurate was along the inner spine of the cover - I.e. not anywhere that magnets would be. The only magnets in the cover were kind of clunkily positioned on the closing edge of the cover (so, on the opposite edge) - they were actually visible.
No magnets in the back, as the cover flopped around and would not stand up in portrait position properly.

That’s why I was assuming some kind of compression was occurring and damaging the screen/putting something slightly out of alignment.
