"ID (URL)" of the Metadata Can't Be PERMANENTLY DELETED
Hello,
I'm having trouble managing the metadata of my EPUB files in Calibre. When I "Edit Metadata" of my EPUB files and essentially ERASE everything, I then use the "Embed Metadata" tool to embed the updated metadata into the EPUB file itself so everything should be permanently changed! And most of it does change to how I want, but there's one part of the metadata that WON'T be permanently deleted! It keeps re-appearing in the EPUB's metadata when the file is re-imported into Calibre which is really vexing. I've deleted it from the "Edit Metadata" pop-up and even used plugins to PERMANENTLY delete it such as: "Modify ePub" and "Polish Books". But it still shows up when the EPUB is re-imported to Calibre. The ONLY thing that will not delete and insistently appears is the "Ids (URL)" which is the source link from where the EPUB was generated via WebToEPub (from what I've seen, it seems to be an in-built identifier). Please refer to the attached image about what I'm referring to that will not delete. I've also tried so many software to edit and remove this metadata (including Sigil), but absolutely nothing will delete this link from the EPUB's metadata. I'd really appreciate anything that could help me get rid of this from my EPUB file's metadata completely. Thank you! |

ids in epub are required as the package identifier. You cannot remove it, but you can change it using the edit book tool, simply edit the metadata.opf file and where you see it, change it to a random string.

This site only just stopped working all of a sudden and won't load any EPUB, let alone delete the metadata so I thought maybe Calibre would have a viable solution to erasing this ID maybe ahah. I also don't quite know how to edit the content.opf file since it won't open in Sigil or Calibre E-book Editor... |
