Can't remove ebook - Clara HD
I never had this issue before and searching here for "can't delete" & "can't remove" did not help.
I have tried deleting an ebook from "Home", "My Books" & "Manage books". I don't get an error but when the screen clears, the damned book is still there. The firmware is 4.34.20097. I did try to delete another recent addition and I have the same problem. I can see this becoming a big problem. I don't think it makes a difference but I add books through Calibre. Has anyone had this issue? Thanks. PS: The "deleted" books can actually be opened and read, pages advanced...etc. I think I fixed it, sort of. Thinking I had a bad database, I used Kobo Utilities to compress and Calibre seemed hung up, so I tried ejecting the device through Windows after forcing Calibre closed. After a bit, when I tried once more to delete that one ebook, the device went into "importing", but once again seemed stuck, at 6%. I figured I was screwed anyway, so I powered down and rebooted the device - now, that one book is really deleted, and the next one picks up where I had left off (something I did not realize before is that my "next" book always started back at the cover). I'm almost certain that I made things worse in some as yet unknown way, but I'll toodle along until I can back up all the books to my PC and factory reset the Clara. PPS: Does anyone know how long it takes to compress the database? I think I may have about 100 books. Last edited by LordP; 10-17-2022 at 12:32 PM. |

It should not take long at all to compress the database.
But one thing I suggest is to use Kobo Utilities to check if your database is corrupt or not. Do you use Kobo Utilities to backup your database? |

No, I didn't check first - but EDIT: "compress" did seem to do the trick....sort of.
Also no, I didn't back up the database (I will from now on). I am 73, retired and I'm usually gardening with a rum & coke, or reading with a rum & coke - much too lazy to back up stuff. ![]() But I have learned my lesson and will be backing up the DB every time I plug in my Clara. I kinda thought the compress command shouldn't take too long, but since I've never done it before, I figured I should ask. I suppose Calibre did get hung up somehow. Thanks for the reply.
