Automatically include custom columns in search

Hello,
entering a word in the search box will search for that word in several columns like authors, tags, series_name.
I have created my own column PseudonymOf, where I store the real name of the Author in case the name in the authors column is not the real name of the author. I also have added a series2 column in case a book belongs to two different series.
Entering a word in the search box will not show results if the word is in the custom columns.
How can I tweak calibre, so that these custom clumns are automatically included in the search?
Thank you for your help

These are how you deal with 'alternates'
In the first tab, you can restrict (you may have set this) to only us thye items when you did not PREFIX the search.

tags: foo
is a prefixed search

Thanks for your help. Your hint was right on the spot. in the first tab (General) I had checked the box "limit the searched metadata" and the columns the search was limited to were "title, authors, tags, series". I just unchecked the box and now everything is searched.
Thank you very much.
