Save to Disk no longer works?

Does Save to Disk (export e-book files from Calibre library) no longer works? I've been trying for the last 4 hrs since updating to 6.16 and Save to Disk allows me to choose the directory but 'Open', the next step to select where I want the file to go, will not work. It just stays there and nothing happened.

Linux, pclos kde.

It all worked fine yesterday when I purchased books and brought them in and out of Calibre. Did I perhaps missed something?

Oh, drat! Then I wonder what can be wrong then. I may have to look somewhere else then.

Thanks for checking bernie.
Much appreciated.

That sounds like an issue with the file chooser dialog on your system. you can tell calibre to not use native file dialogs, which
avoids the helper process, by setting the CALIBRE_NO_NATIVE_FILEDIALOGS
environment variable to 1 as described here:

He updated his KDE Plasma stuff to 23.04.0 and kdialog was part of the update which probably broke his Calibre. I told him to put
export CALIBRE_NO_NATIVE_FILEDIALOGS=1 in his .bash_profile as a work around.

Just edited to say without the 'export' tag as texstar indicated, this works only for 1 session. Using the 'export' tag makes the work-a-round more permanent.

Thanks to you both.
