Voyage dead spots

Just got a new to me Voyage and the touchscreen on the settings button is not working. I also find the touchscreen in the menu area in general to be less responsive and I need to tap a few times to get it to register (or it's taking forever to register my tap). Reset isn't helping. The rest of the touchscreen is responding great. I see no evidence of damage (no scratches/cracks). I'm going to try to JB it soon (though I doubt that would help). I'm guessing I'm just screwed on it and will have to deal. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm guessing this Voyage is "new" to you and it can't be returned? If that's the case I would look at the possibility that connector from the motherboard to the screen might be slightly "backed out" from its receptacle. To check that you would have to take the back off the Voyage but I think it's fairly easy. (Others probably have more knowledge about this, so you might want to wait for their input.)

ifixit has instructions for changing the battery in a Voyage. Follow the first steps of those instructions for removing the cover.

The voyage is indeed used, but new to me. Can't return it. However, the seller was extremely understanding and refunded me the purchase price. Thanks to those that replied. I might try removing the cover when I get a spare bit of time. In the meantime I've figured out I can change to landscape mode in a book and all buttons work so I can get to brightness settings that way. It's an extra step but makes it useable for now.

Well, I haven't had a chance to open it up yet. However, I did accidently drop it once or twice and I noticed this weekend that more is working! I even got the settings button to work once which was advertised as not working in the ad. So I'm definitely thinking this is the problem.

Well, that's a hopeful sign. But I think I would avoid dropping the Voyage in the future.

Well, I finally had time to sit down and do this. Tried to make sure all the cables were connected properly but didn't want to actually disconnect them and reconnect. No joy, still the same dead spots. Also now can't get the shiny plastic piece to sit flush at the top of the KV. Oh well. Worth a try.
