How hard is it to open to change the battery

How difficult is it to open the Libra 2 for the purpose of changing the battery? Also, what battery does the Libra 2 use? Thanks.

It's easy to open it, just use guitar pick or something similar to pry off backplate, battery picture is in first post of this thread, but it's soldered on motherboard.

Thanks. So it's not too difficult to change the battery.

Original Libra and Sage backs also pop off with plastic pries or plectrum. Easier if the back of edge you are opening is overhanging the desk for Sage. The original Libra can be poked open with a thumb nail at the corner near USB. OTOH the original H2O is a pig to open without messing up the IR light pipe alignment on the bezel.

If my H2O ever really needed a battery change, I would not be doing it. Good chance I'd mess something up.

What about a battery that's at least 1500mAh? It makes little sense (IMHO) to replace the existing battery with one that has less power to it.

I agree, but you need to make sure that the size (length, width, thinkness) will make that battery fit in the Kobo Libra 2. I have not seen /found information about that, but when the battery (pouch type) are standardized in size then it might be possible. But mind the voltage etc...

Better safe than sorry.

Well, hopefully by the time my battery needs to be replaced and I want to give it a go, there will be a 1500mAh battery available. But most likely by then, I'll want to get a new Reader.
