Calibre server: folder
When I download an ebook with the server to my Android tablet, the file(s) is copied to the standard "download" folder of it, but my ebook library is in another specific folder. Then, after this I have to change the location of the file(s).
Could it be possible -and this is maybe a question to Mr. Kovid Goyal--, when you are in the tablet, connected to the server, and having already selected the ebook that you want to download or copy, that after having pressed the "download" button (in the server's window), the server ask for the location of the folder to download into? That feature would, really, improve the server! |

I think the answer is going to be:
This is how the Browser on your device is configured. Can you change it to Always Ask? |

Thanks! I had Opera as my browser but as it doesn't have that option, I changed to Chrome and selected "always ask", but it doesn't work: Chrome downloads to the "Download" folder (or to the preselected folder to download).

The API for this is currently present only in desktop Chrome and only if using https: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/...SaveFilePicker
so it doesnt seem worth the effort to implement. Last edited by kovidgoyal; 10-02-2021 at 09:51 PM. |

Well you need to convince the browser vendors to implement that feature on android and without gating it behind https.

Well, the good news is that it works with Opera. At first, I had discarded doing it with Opera, because this browser doesn't offer the option to leave "always ask" but only the option to select the download folder. But as I have my ebooks in a specific folder (different from the standard folder for download), I selected that specific folder in Opera, AND when I connected to the Calibre Server and pressed the Download button for downloading an ebook to my Android tablet, a new window came up asking to confirm the folder to download (almost a kind of "always ask"). Yes, in that window you can change the destination folder. So, if you had the standard download folder selected, you can in that moment opt for a different folder, I mean, the folder where you want to download your ebook.
Thanks, really, to Mr. Kovid Goyal for his comments. Actually, the fact that he answered me is a great privilege. |

Related question, is there a way to set the directory used when I select the "read" option in the Content Server Web UI?
If I select Download I can choose to download to the SD card on my device. However, if I click "read" there is no prompt it just opens the book and uses the device internal storage. Is there a way in Calibre to set the directory used to store these files? |

IndexxedDB storage is controlled by the browser not by individual web apps.
