Moving all my Calibre converted books to a new Kindle

I have all of my books in Calibre, liberated, and the AZW3 files transferred over USB to my Paperwhite 7th gen. I am considering getting a new 2021 Paperwhite.

I've read through a lot of threads, but I'm still unclear as to whether I can simply copy the documents folder of my old Kindle to my new Kindle. I think the answer is yes, but I would like to confirm.

The other question is whether there is a file on the old Kindle that, once transferred to the new Kindle, will cause the documents to automatically sort back into their original collections. I have a feeling here that the answer is no, but I would also like to confirm.

I have over 1000 books and 30 collections, so I really want to make sure one way or another before I decide to do this.

Secondary question: If this is NOT possible, I'm thinking about emailing all of books in mobi format to the Kindle cloud and sorting them into collections there, because it's much easier than doing it on the device. But since some of these are original Amazon purchases, I worry that I'll "get caught" having removed the DRM. Am I being paranoid? Does anyone else worry about this?

(I'm sorry if this question was better asked in the Kindle thread.)

If the books have no DRM, you can copy them over from the old Kindle. Whether bulk copying of the entire folder would work or not, sorry, I don't know.

As to Amazon noticing that you have de-DRMed copies of their books on your Kindle... they don't care. I sideload all my purchases to my ereaders with DRM removed, including my Amazon purchases. Not a peep from them during 10+ years.

Do you send them back to MYKC after the de-drm?

Also, have you noticed whether, after copying the files to a new Kindle, they sort back into the collection? Thanks very much for your response.

No, I sideload via USB.

As to collections, I don't use them, so cannot say.

Thanks. I tried to use it and couldn't make it work, I'm glad to know it wasn't me. So whenever sideloading items to a new device, sorting books into collections has to be done manually, it seems. There is no file on the device that has collection information?
