Sorting of items in User Categories

Currently, in my user category, I have four items from my #kobostatus column enclosed in [Square Brackets] so that they'll filter to the top of the list above items from other columns:

Is this the best way to do it, or did I miss another option somewhere?

Yes, that is the way to do it. In the tag browser, "Sorting by name" sorts alphabetically. There is no way to change that.

ASCII (character weight) is a common usage to bias sorts:
Digits, Upper case, Lower case. (case sensitive sorts)

0-Force first
Middle
z-Force last

Get yourself an ASCII chart
