Clara HD Collections not showing books are in it till I reset

So I tried to sum it up in the title.

So I have this odd problem, basically, it's when I put a book into a collection it won't display a book is in the collection until I put my device to sleep or turn it off and then back on.

Example = I put two books in my Lord of Rings collection and when I back out it won't show there are books in there, I go back in and they are there, back out again, and still shows 0.

My fix for this is to shut off my device and turn it on again and the number shows but I think this is silly especially since this is a new device (bought it two days ago) and I had a kobo Glo before this. Please help, I just find it very annoying.

I do not have an answer for you. My Kobo crashed and my collections were all wiped out. I saw your thread and was hoping a restart would fix my problem. But alas, it didn't work for me.

Is the collections anomaly unique to 4.31 or was it there with prior versions?

So I asked my mum if I could borrow her kobo glo (was my old one) and I made a new collection and it has the same problem. So it may be the recent update?

Just roll your Kobo back to 4.30. That one was pretty stable.

For now I'm going to refrain from connecting my Kobos to the PC. Hopefully Kobo will roll out a repaired firmware.

Oh, that was for Calenorn! I do not know if rolling back to 4.30 will fix your issues or not.

I can't seem to roll back and nothing seems to be fixing the issue, though I did find out that if I made a new collection and added books upon creation of it then it will show but if I try to add books later the number will stay the same until I reset/sleep the device. Factory resetting did nothing and it's not any of my books so it is the update.

How are you adding these books? If you are using Calibre to manage them, you typically add the books, eject the Kobo and plug it in again for Calibre to refresh the metadata/collections/series.

I’m using Calibre and doing everything correctly, I’m pretty sure it’s a software thing from the newest update now since I have literally done everything. I’ve tried new softwares and just dumped books in the usb way but it still persists.

I did report the problem to kobo directly so hopefully it will get fixed and I know this “issue” probably seems silly but it just irks me that I have to sleep my device before it will update. Thank you everyone for trying to help ❤️

My Forma does something like that, maybe for the last year? (I don't let it "call home" very often, I just sync through Calibre.)

I have the same folder set up that I've had since my Kobo Mini. I faithfully add a new book to a collection, sync it, and it never shows up in the collection on the Forma until I manually add it. It's only mildly annoying now, but I shudder to think what would happen if I had to re-sync the several THOUSAND books on my device.
