I guess my Kobo firmware updated and now NickelMenu says "generator error". I found that I need to reinstall KFMon. I checked github page for KFMon and it says before reinstalling I need to uninstall. In "uninstall" section I read "KoboRoot.tgz ... will automate much of this". What should I do with KoboRoot.tgz? put in kobo's root? unpack in kobo's root? unpack on my computer and run something from shell? (I use linux)
And then, for reinstalling KFMon? Should I just unpack the latest KFMon-vx.x.xxxxxxx.zip to kobo's root, and reboot? Thank you so much (perhaps that page on github needs some more detailed instructions, or maybe I'm too noob) |

The OCP install script can handle the KFMon install package just fine if the standard instructions are too overwhelming for you

Sorry guys, I'm not into Koreader development. What is "OCP install script"? which commands should I run to uninstall KFMon and reinstall it?

OCP == One Click install Package which is a bundling of KoReader, Plato and KFMon

Also, the GitHub page doesn't actually mention uninstalling KFMon before an install (and doesn't actually mention *anything* about treating a reinstall any other way than a first-time install), it mentions uninstalling fmon, which is not the same thing, and is something that no longer actually exist anyway
![]() TL;DR: Just install it again, whichever way you prefer. Manually, OCP, anything'll do. There's only so many ways I can say: just unzip the install zip at the root of the device over USB and let it do its thing. Last edited by NiLuJe; 08-17-2021 at 03:22 PM. |

I managed to solve the issue. I write here what I did, in case anybody needs this in the future.
I tried to run uninstaller in 3 different ways:
I could notice anything happening after these 3 attempts. So finally I unzipped contents of KFMon-v1.4.4-32-g3f9f34d.zip to root directory and it updated automatically, making Koreader finally work. |

The OCP packages run a script on Windows, OSX or Linux that automates the process. Place the script and the OCP (NickelMenu, KFMon and KOReader and/or Plato) .zip file in the same directory and execute the script. Wait patiently until the process is finished. See the One-Click Install Packages for KOReader & Plato thread especially the first and second messages for more information. |
