Aura E2 dropped in water, touchscreen no longer working

Hello, first post here. My gf dropped her Aura E2 in the bathtub for a split second - it worked fine initially, then the touchscreen became increasingly erratic to input until it stopped working altogether. She put it in a bag of rice like two weeks after this happened - factory reset didn't help at all. Kobo only offered a discount on a new model and no repair options.

It looks like DIY disassembly and screen replacement is about the only hope for this. Is this advisable, or even possible?

I don't know if it is worth it. (Assuming you are in the US) you can buy another Aura 2 on eBay for $75 or buy the newer model, Nia from Walmart for $100.

Considering what happened, you might also look at the H2O: $75 on eBay.

If you buy a Kobo, would you use it if she doesn't? You can get a refurbished Kobo Libra H2O from Walmart for $113 (US).
