Set the same date of adding for both Calibre and Kobo

Hello,
I've noticed that Calibre and Kobo manage differently the dates for each book: in Calibre the date corresponds to the day the book is added to the library, in Kobo it corresponds to the day when the same book is uploaded on the device.
That would seem reasonable, but I find it somehow frustrating because I'm used to order the books by date of adding. Therefore the two libraries can differ a lot, especially if I upload on Kobo some books which are not new in Calibre. Or if I upload simoultaneously on Kobo some books which I added on Calibre in different times.

I'd like that the books added in kobo have the same date of adding of when they were previously added to Calibre. Is it possible?

You can do this with my Kobo Utilities plugin. There is metadata update function that can set the date added on the device to any of the dates in your library. You have to do this after sending the books and letting the device import them. Connect again, select the books to be changed, and run the choose update metadata on device function from the menu and select the desired options. It will update any where the metadata in the library does not match that in the device database for the selected options.

Thank you for your reply. I've tried to follow your instructions but it doesn't seem to work. I don't know if I missed anything, here it is what I did: I plugged the Kobo and opened Calibre, then I selected a book already on the device and I clicked on "Update metadata in device library" selecting only "Date Added". It returned that the book is updated. So I unplugged the Kobo and checked the book list on the device but nothing changed. Plugging the Kobo again I see that also in Calibre, in the library of the device, the book has still the same date. What do you think?

Don't mind the post above, I've tried again and finally it worked very well! Thank you for your help!
Still, if I plug the Kobo and I look from Calibre in the library of the device, the books show the same date as before, but nevertheless if I order books by Date in the device they now show the order of Calibre library, that is good enough for me.

I believe the date is only updated in the database on the Kobo; not in the filesystem.

That is correct. The metadata update is only to the database. And that is used by nickel when displaying book details and the sorting.
