Kindle - Calibre - books via Email broken once again

Hi all,

I have a Kindle Paperwhite 2019, 10th gen or whatever its called. So far, sending books via Email through Calibre worked fine and sending still works without any errors however no books show up anymore on the kindle.

Nothing was changed on my side, so did something change again? This kindle is getting worse with every update it seems. I tried sending via web mail too, all kinds of formats... nothing arrives.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks

The "solution" in the thread seems to be to randomly re-enter the emails, but that doesnt sound like a real fix. I have been using GMX and it worked always fine. I have then created a Hotmail just for this too, added it as well, and nothing arrives. I see the books in the "send folders" and Calibre reports that the email was succesfully send. I tried also sending via Webmail. Nothing arrives on the kindle anymore but nothing was changed from my side ..

In the above thread it says "If you are sending to your Kindle, remember to update the email preferences on your Amazon Kindle page to allow email sent from your GMX email address. Also note that Amazon does not allow email delivery of AZW3 and new style (KF8) MOBI files."

What does it mean "to allow email send from your GMX email address" ? There is a special setting just for gmx? Of course the email has been added to the kindle list of approved mails, else I wouldnt be able to send anything but there is some other setting too now?

Also - when Calibre sends to a Kindle, it knows which format it should be, no? It has always converted it to Mobi and seems to have worked or is calibre now doing this "KF8" new style whatever Mobi format?

I tried also sending a PDF - nothing arrived.

You may want to check your Content & Devices page on amazon.com to see if the books were delivered to your account, but not sent on to the Kindle. You will need to change "Show: Books" to "Show: Docs" to see what has been received.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Ijust did that and it seems that not a single book has been received in the account since 30th of November, the last time I have send something via GMX.

So the same GMX email, the new hotmail and also one gmail I used for testing do not arrive in the account as they should. However, I have the mails send out in the send folder and no error messages or failed deliveries.

Did Amazon do another update or something? Is there a way to trace why no email at all arrives suddenly in the account?

Amazon needs you to 'white list' the email accounts you use to SEND FROM.
This is a simple anti-spam procedure.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

How exactly is this done? I have added the emails to the kindle approved ones and I have not changed anything, so now Amazon needs some additional "white listing" ? How would that be done?

If you added those from from your Amazon devices account, you have 'white listed' (that is a term that describes 'allow", OTOH 'black list' is to DENY )

FWIW I ran a couple of test cases when I got my Kindles, and have never used that mode since. My USB cord works fine without all the necessary security fuss)

Hi again,

I have done that and I have had those emails, as mentioned in the initial post, from the start added. Especially the GMX one was working fine up until the 30th of november and perhaps would have worked some days following that but for some reason nothing works in december. I have not changed anything.

I dont understand if we talk about the same thing. I have, as required, added the mails im sending the books from, to the approved list on the amazon website - but there is any other setting i need to do?

As an experiment, try sending the books to another email account under your control and see if they arrive. This will at least insure that they are arriving at GMX and being forwarded on.

Hi,

Thanks for the help.

I just tried that. I have send a book from the GMX email that i was usually using to the recently created Hotmail and vice versa. Both books arrived.

Does it work fine for everybody else?

So basically, we can remove calibre from the equation.

I'm going to have to dig out the Kindle and give it a test. I use Kobo ereaders and have a Kindle simply for the serial number for download and transfer via USB.

Quick DOH! moment when I realized that I did not actually need the Kindle for this testing.

Using GMX for send to email is working for me. As the first test, I sent an epub which is not an accepable format but did generate the bounceback email from Amazon. I then sent a mobi file and that showed up in Docs under Content and Devices.

It works for me, as well. I just emailed 4 books to my Kindle cloud a couple of days ago and they arrived just fine. I'm sorry that this isn't working for you, and I wish I had a suggestion to make other than the ones already made.

Thanks for checking,

Still nothing works for me. Its actually my mothers where I send books to. Nothing arrives in amazon, everything has been treble-checked and amazon is no help .. sure i can explain my mother how to factory reset blabla and all the nonsense i wanted to avoid. So i wont do that, instead another question ... are there any ebook readers with a functionality to have books send to via calibre apart amazon? Something like paperwhite.. any brand that works.
