Better battery life with KOReader?
Hello, just curious to know if other Aura One users (or others) noticed a better battery life while using KOReader? On the default reader, I could get around a week life battery (I was at 3 full weeks when I purchased it) and since last year, it was going slowly away. But I changed for KOReader this week and after 6 nights, I'm still at 82% (!!). I would have thought that the night mode could use more battery since there's more pixels "on" but it doesn't seems to have any sort of impact. I had to say I'm really happy about this, it will be easier to wait for the next flagship model. Thanks!

Nightmode has no impact on battery life (if anything, it should require a tiny bit more processing power, but it's noise in the grand scheme of things).
I don't know how Nickel sets up the Aura One, but Mk. 5 devices run with an hilariously broken CPU scheduling setup in Nickel. That's the only significant long-term power consumption difference I can think of. (If you forget about Wi-Fi, which is the n°1 drain, Nickel or KOReader). Other than that, unless you spend your time opening new books, we should be eating noticeably less CPU time for standard reading activities. But that shouldn't make a significant difference on battery usage (some, though). The other thing to remember is that the battery gauge means almost nothing on Kobo devices. It's notoriously hilariously unreliable. |

If you are using the front light, you will most likely need to hae more light when using night mode. That's what I found when testing out night mode.

Always wifi off, front light is around 20%. KOReader comes with a battery information panel so I wonder if the original Kobo OS was "lying" on battery level but I was really seeing a drop from weeks to weeks. Though, I never let it go down to zero, so maybe I still had a lot of juice and the indicator was faulty. In any case, I'm happy to see that my device is still running strong. If I were some kind of conspiracy kind of guy, I would say that the battery indicator going down was a way to program obsolescence
