Kakugo-like font, but with l/I distinction?

Odd request, perhaps. I'm aware that Kobo UD Kakugo is intended for Japanese, but having tested them all, it's actually my preferred font for reading English.I simply find it easier on the eyes, particularly if I'm not wearing my glasses/contacts, or if I'm on the treadmill.

The one complaint I have about it, however, is that it has no distinction between a lowercase 'L' and an uppercase 'I', and it can get quite confusing with unfamiliar names.

I don't suppose anyone has come up with a modified version of this font that has added serifs onto ambiguous characters for clarity?

It's not possible to do anything with the fonts Kobo includes in the firmware are they are obfuscated and thus, not able to be edited.

I write a lot about artificial intelligence and my brother's name is Alan, so I also need a font that clearly distinguishes between AI and Al. For me, the best sans-serif fonts for reading on the Kobo that do that are Noto Sans (free) and Verdana (which came with many versions of Windows).
