Mini only works while charging

I use my mini many years but I change the screen after I broke it.

Fisrt the touch does not worked, I research and see the infrared configuration, but the screen broke while I repaired.

Now, I changed foo other screen, touch is a lot faulty but working.

But now my mini only works plugged at a pc or outlet. When I remove the cable it freezes, I let it an entire day alone but it not worked (maybe I have to leave it alone many days because its fully charged).

When I connect again it restarts and works, but only plugged

I did a factory reset, try to configurate via desktop app, but now it does not show the epub files I manually loaded and the power thing continues.

My first thought on hearing that it works only plugged in is the battery needs replacing. Mini is a pretty old device and the batteries don't usually last that long.

The mini is very easy to replace batteries - it has screws. The back cover was designed to be replaceable.

I have a mini that is still going good but I don't use it much and I leave it powered off with 40-50% charge. That is the best for battery life.
