Synchonizing content of 2 devices
I'm using two readers. One is the main reader the other is randomly use. Is there a way to synchronize the content of the two devices through Calibre? I mean updating (maybe on plugging in to Calibre) the content of the secondary devices to match the content of the main one (and not the other way).
I can't find the answer of my problem in the forum. |

![]() ![]() Attach #1: search ![]() Attach #2; Strl-Shift-M (Show all Marked); Ctrl-A (select All); Send to device (you could get fancy and not select those already on the device) |

not automatically, no. But ou can connect one, search for ondevice:true, mark all the books using the mark books tool. Connect the second, seect the previously marked books and send them over. Then switch to the device tab sort by the in library column and delete any books that dont have a check mark

The initial syncing has to be brute force as Kovid and @theducks said. After that, there are other methods.
My method is with the Reading List plugin. I create a reading list for each device. When I get a new book, I add it to the lists of the devices I want the book on. When I connect the device, I sync the list (which can be automatic), the books are sent and the list is cleared. Also, as both devices are Kobo devices, you can also sync the reading status. My Kobo Utilities plugin has function to store the reading status in calibre when you connect the device. You can restore this to the other device. It isn't all automatic and you can usually just turn the page a few times to catch up on the other device, so it might not be worthwhile doing this. I mainly use it when I finish a book to mark the books on the other devices as read. |
