K4 Mac or PC K4 PC 1.17.44 stopped working today

I have been using K4 for PC for many happy years
Today I couldn't open it.
Trying to sign in said there was a problem with my account which freaked me out.

But I can still sign in on my phone and tablets, so obviously its the old kindle version ( as Amazon chat informed me)

Has anyone got any suggestions for me please?

Works for me. Try to uninstall and reinstall.

FWIW, I just tried 1.17.1 on Windows 10 and it worked for me.

Mine works too. I'm also in Windows 10.

It was working fine yesterday. But when I switched on pc again it said problem with account. Contact amazon. I did that and they said update to latest version.
Which I didn't want to do.
Problem is just with K4 pc. My tablet and phone are showing amazon now problem.
I tried to find a slightly later K4 pc on net but couldn't. Don't want to use latest one.

Can't find any other versions anywhere (only the latest one) to try, which I don't want

Removed My Kindle Content contents.
K4 Pc no longer in Devices now.
Tried again to uninstall & re install version1.17 but no change.

Had been using that version for ages no problem
Am i stuck with downloading the latest version of K4 Pc now and not adding to Calibre to alter how I want?

The alternative to using Kindle for PC is to get a cheap old eink Kindle off Ebay or somewhere like that, and use the Download and Transfer by USB option on the My Content and Devices page.

So I guess I will download the latest version of K4 PC.
What number version will that be?
Will the new format of ebooks import into calibre?
And be able to be edited?

I have downloaded this version of K4 PC
But it wont let me import books into calibre.
This was the only version I coulfd find that worked

Yes, you'll get the old format.

While this method works with all Kindles at the moment, it would be best to get an older Kindle not supporting kfx. Kindle Keyboard, basic non-touch Kindles with buttons from 2011 and 2012. Take care not to buy a blacklisted device (i.e. reported to Amazon as lost or stolen), else you won't be able to register it. It doesn't have to be in working order, just able to be registered.

Also, make sure that you obtain an e-ink Kindle device, not a Fire tablet. Those used to be called Kindle Fire, but they are not actually Kindles and will not work for this purpose.
