Calibre 5.0.0 does not detect my Kindle Paperwhite

Hi,

I just upgraded to Calibre 5.0.0 and for the first time in 10 years Calibre fails to detect my Kindle (currently a Paperwhite, released in 2015).

I ran Calibre in debug-mode and the txt file says:

Unable to open device <calibre.devices.kindle.driver.KINDLE2 object at 0x11469a430>

calibre.devices.errors.DeviceError: Unable to detect the KINDLE2 mount point. Try rebooting.

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Device connect failed again, giving up

I restarted Calibre, my Kindle but so far nothing has worked...

Indeed, device detection is broken on macOS, it's caused by the change to python 3 will be fixed in the next release, which I will make in a day or two.

Same (5.0) problem with both my Kobo readers. But 5.0.1 fixed it. Speedy stuff. Thank you.
