Which stylus to use with the Libra?
Hi,
I have a Kobo Libra and a Glo HD. I would like to sketch a little bit with a stylus, and it works with a stylus with a rubber nub at its end with the Glo HD. However, on the Libra, the stylus does not seem to register any input on the device. Any ideas why it's not working? Thanks! |

I think the Glo HD's screen is capacitive, but don't know what type the Libra screen is...

I can't recall if the Glo HD was a zForce IR grid, but I'm *fairly* confident the Libra uses a capacitive grid.

All rubber tip styluses I've used have worked perfectly well with my Libra.

Then maybe it's my stylus... I'll try with another one.
Thanks for your answers! |

Exactly. What this means is that a standard stylus would work with the Glow (any pointy thing will work), but the Libra requires a stylus that picks up electrical current from your fingers. Any iPad stylus should suffice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

No, many stylus types don't block the the IR as well as a finger tip and don't work on older IR ereaders.
No hard tip stylus should be used as they are for precision resistive (pressure sensitive) screens. Any stylus that works for a light touch phone/pad (capacitive) will work. There is NOTHING special about the iPad, apart from the 70% margin and overpriced accessories. Capacitive and IR are low resolution. The only point of a stylus is to avoid finger grease / sweat on the screen. If you have to use ANY pressure at all, it's not a decent capacitive stylus. It adds almost no resolution unless your finger tips are huge. It's touch, not press. Pressing will break the screen. |

Hi, I tested styluses both on my Libra and Glo HD, and the capacitive stylus works well on the Libra. The Glo HD accepts pretty much anything that is sharp/small.

LOL Yet the stylus they need will be listed as iPad/iPhone compatible which will help them find it in the store or online, your loathing of the iPad notwithstanding. 😘 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I don't loath it. It's just fashion priced so sometimes accessories reflect this.
Also a stylus is pointless on a capacitive or IR screen, especially one with page turn buttons. Only high resolution touch screens (resistive or wacom) need a stylus. Just trying to save the OP some money. No point in spending more than cents on a stylus, or an eraser topped diary pencil. Last edited by Quoth; 08-13-2020 at 03:30 PM. Reason: Saving |

An eraser on the end of a regular pencil definitely doesn't work on a capacitive screen. What makes a "diary pencil" special enough so that the eraser on the end of it works as a capacitive stylus? Shari |
