Conversion options not always sticking

My understanding, which may well be flawed, is that options set in Preferences / Common options are used as defaults in future conversions. This has worked well for me for a while, as far as I am aware.

However I have noticed an issue in 4.11.2. I have added a rule to Preferences / Common options / Transform styles. If I then click on a book in my library and try to convert, the rule is not present under Look and Feel / Transform styles. For info the default Input and Output formats on the conversion window are set to Epub and MOBI respectively.

I notice that if I select other books where the default Input and Output formats are set to AZW3 and MOBI respectively, my rule is added to the conversion Transform styles. I'm not sure if this is relevant though.

Could someone please help me out here?
