Absurd changes between letters (not words)

Here are two photos. Same text with georgia font on same PW4 with exact same size and boldness. The space between letters (not words) are tight as it should be on one and loose on the other. It changes when I choose another font and turn back to georgia.

How is that possible and more importantly, how can it be fixed? Or is it a known bug of Kindle about misbehaving typesettings?

That is odd, but it's not surprising to me really. On my PW4 when I had to turn back a page to re-read something, when I moved back to the next page again the text would shift around randomly so that it would place different portions of the book at a different part of the page. That sounds like a similar issue with above - it kind of randomly changes where it plops small details (in my case whole paragraphs), so that could account for it. I don't think it's a bug exactly, more like a quirk?

What you said is what I experience all the time and don't bother at all... But this is different. I generally use ChareInk and never see such bizzare changes between letters. This happens in Georgia interestingly...

I've seen this when I open a book, pick a theme, change some parameter (say, spacing), then switch to another book: often you get the original theme but the Aa user interface shows the spacing as changed even though it flipped itself back. Changing the errant parameter to something else fixes things immediately.

I think it's just a bug in the new Aa UI code.

... oh wait, I misread, this is kerning between *letters*, not something you can control from Aa at all. No, never seen this, sorry.

I have never updated my PW4 (still on 5.10.3). Optimistically, is there a chance for kerning to be fixed in following firmwares?
