Sigil crash after ALT+SHIFT+2
I have Sigil 1.2 and it always crashes when I press: left ALT + SHIFT + 2
Actually Sigil freezes and I have to kill it. Does anybody knows why? Thanks Last edited by rashomon; 07-10-2020 at 07:58 AM. |

What OS? What shortcut key managers do you have installed? What is Alt+Shift+2 supposed todo on your machine?

„shortcut key managers” - I don't have any program that works as global key manager. In Language bar->AdvancedKeySettings I defined „key sequence” for local language (English alt+shift+1, Cyrilic alt+shit+2, French alt+shif+3 ... ). But that never cause any problems in any program. |

Qt handles its own key events (QtKey) so switching keyboard mapping or changing input method while running a Qt program would probably not be a good idea. If you set the language in the language bar first and launch Sigil, does it work as expected?

Advanced Keyboard Settings > Language Bar Options > Advanced Key Settings > Change Key Sequence. (See screen capture.)
BTW, I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. @rashomon 1. Does this also happen when you use Left Alt + Shift without a number to cycle between languages? 1. Have you also assigned Left Alt + Shift + 2 to a Sigil option? |

Yes, I'm talking about Windows Language bar (Input language hot key). Current settings:
https://ibb.co/cvvWcZs I just switched from Sigil 0.7x, where did not have any problems. I did not set any additional shortcut in Sigil. What is „QtKey”, and where is setting for it? Problem appears even when i don't have any ePub open. Just start Sigili, press ALT + SHIFT + 2 and it blokcs. |

I change keyboard with windows+space shortcut (windows 10 default) between english, serbian cyrillic and serbian latin.
Everything's fine with Sigil in Windows 10. |

Qt QKey is part of the Qt library (dll) that Sigil uses (and has used since the beginning). There are no setting for QtKeys as they have their own input methods.
Given this works on Windows 10 machines with no trouble based on what others have reported, this appears to be something specific to your machine. Following Doitsu's and other suggestions and reporting back is a good idea. I can not recreate this issue as I work and develop on macOS. |

@DiapDealer:
I was able to reproduce this bug after installing 3 keyboard layouts and assigning a Left Alt+Shift keyboard shortcut to each of them. (It sometimes happened when pressing Left Shift and a number other than 2 and it also happened when I used the right Shift key.) |

Since nobody believe me, I made a video (sorry about bad quality, too tired to play with mobile):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjkPfLAg3rQ This is what I've done: 1. I edit one ePub, for 10-15 minutes. Everything is fine, changing between language works fine (both ways: alt+shift and alt+shift+1...) 2. At one point, after changing language (with ALT+SHIFT+2), Sigil crashes 3. After that, every time I start Sigil, even without any ePub open, and I press ALT+SHIFT+2, it crashes. It does not crash when I change language with ALT+SHIFT |

It's not a matter of belief, but rather reproducing. Which you'll notice Doitsu has now done.
I just don't know whether we'll be able to do anything about it. |
