I have 312 manga books I am making out of JPG file types inside zipped folders that are now going to become CBZ file types. I plan to keep them on my tablet which is a fire tablet or place them on my cheap RCA tablet I want to use for just reading. Anyways I want to use the covers for the covers but there is a look of text on the covers and such.
So I want to get as much details as I can for the Manga. Example the first manga is called "Hanma Baki or Baki - Son Of Ogre." There are different titles for it. And I really like the sound of "Baki - Son Of Ogre" but that is the name of the "Manga" and each chapter has there own name. So "Manga" is called "Baki - son Of Ogre" then the chapter (1) is called "Chapter 1 - The Bloodline of the Fighting Gods". Is there a way to add the information to the ebook for the chapter without needing to add it to the name. I don't want a title called Baki - Son Of Ogre. Chapter 1 - The Bloodline of the Fighting Gods". It would be really to long. How do I add the chapters titles to the ebook if possible. Or is there a way that calibre can do this its self. Or do I do it. I'm not even sure if this can be done. So far I will first turn all the PDF zipped folder into CBZ files and then go from there. But I hope this can be done. Or if there is a way to make the Manga collection I'm working on more detailed and less messy. Thank You! |

are you using the Editor (shortcut T )?

@theducks - they're Manga CBZ's, so I've moved the thread to Library Management

If you have enough titles like this, you may want to create a new column. I use "title" and "#fulltitle" but it might work better with "title" and "#shorttitle". Then copy from "title" and shorten one. If you're exporting, set appropriate export options.

The Chapters titles are missing from the ebooks is there a way to add chapter titles to these at all. I go to the library for calibre and I see "Son Of Ogre #" the # is the number of the chapter but there is no title for the chapter. Do I add that in here or in the metadata if possible. Next how would I do it in what section. This is still a bit new to me.
Here is what I would like to do change all the Titles to Baki - Son Of Ogre. and remove the Author all together. And add chapter titles. Because if I use "Baki - Son Of Ogre - Chapter 33 - "Chapter Title" it would be really to long and messy looking. So is there a way to do this. |

@DawnDawn88 -
![]() When you send the CBZ to your Fire send it with a template comprising the Series Name, Series Index, and Title, e.g. Baki - Son Of Ogre: Chapter 1 - The Bloodline of the Fighting Gods. One of the coding gurus can help you with the template. There's a Manage Series plugin that may be of some help, see Index of plugins BR Last edited by BetterRed; 07-02-2020 at 07:33 AM. |

![]() ![]() Okay here is some issues I am having. (1) I was told to change the name in the series section to "Baki - Son Of Ogre" which I did. I even changed the name of the title for the Chapter 33 manga to "The Warrior" and then I found a area that says "Number" I placed "33" in there and it says 33.00. But I'm still having issues with this when I see the stuff on calibre I see this. Title>"The Warrior" Author>"Unknown" Series>"Baki - Son Of Ogre. Now the title is correct and the series is correct. But when I go to calibre library I see this. "Unknown" and then I open it I see this "The Warrior" and then when I open the folder I see "Cover, Metadata, The Warrior - Unknown". When I open the library folder for calibre I want to see Baki - Son Of Ogre. And then inside that folder I want to see The title for each of the manga and then there chapter numbers. From 1 to 312. How do I do this. I want to change the information shown and not have it do the authors names. Is this possible if so how and do I need extra plugins or something to do this. I don't mind entering the information myself I can copy and paste and do about 50 or so a day when I have the free time I just need to know if this is at all possible first. thank you. Plus the picture is of the zipped files I placed into the calibre and just turned into the CBZ and I have most of them moved but not all of them moved and turned into CBZ files yet. I'm about 30 short and still need to finish it. And I only tinkered with the metadata in the editor with the metadata button I have never tinkering with the actual files inside the ebooks themselves. So above is what I tried and I only tried it with 1 ebook just to see if I could figure it out and nope still stuck. |

@DawnDawn88 - because Its the same basic subject, I merged you new thread into this one. Keeping related posts together allows responders to see what came before.
You need to put aside what you see in the calibre library folder hierarchy - treat it as a black box. The key to Calibre is the library database (metadata.db in the library folder); the Author and Book Title folders are convenient placeholders in which to store:

Okay this is what I want it to look like but without the "Better Red" haha.
I do like the set up for the way you did it. How can I do this I have never tinkered with calibre before I just normally save them the way they normally save. How do I remove author I normally just place the amazon ebooks or what ever in there and then convert to pdf and then sometimes rip ages from magazines or books with quizzes of checklists and save them to a print folder for later. So where do I go to remove the author part and can I permanently remove it. At all because I would rather organize my other ebooks and stuff the same way if possible. |

Okay it shows you have (2) Baki mangas 1 and 2. Did you edit them both at the same time in the calibre. If so how?
I see Baki Son Of Ogre (1) and (2) Can I change it to say Baki - Son Of Ogre Chapter (1) or do it without the () if possible. I like the way you have it but I don't know how you did it. I normally just move ebooks in to calibre and then convert them and then save them to the main calibre library I don't know where else or how else to save them really. I would like to save the ebook into a library I created called PDF and make a new folder inside called Manga and then inside manga make a folder for each of the manga series I have. But currently I only have baki - son of ogre. I will need a tutorial on how to get this done like how you did it but without the author name being Better Red or Dawn B. Or a author name at all if possible because sometimes there different authors for different releases and such. |

![]() So far it looks fine to me. But why is there (3) and not just the CBZ file. Plus am I saving these wrong is that why there are (3). I'm not sure. Plus when I get these all renamed do I need to move all 3 files to my tablet or just the CBZ and the JPG for the cover art. I do want to see the cover art for each of the manga in the library on the tablet that is why I was wondering if I need all 3 files or not. I didn't see all 3 on your desktop just the CBZ file. I hope this makes sense me asking this and all. Otherwise I really like the way it looks now its pretty freaking cool how I have it setup now. Thanks for the help. |

@DawnDawn88 - You probably have the Preferences->Save to Disk->Save cover separately box checked.
If you put one of CBZ's on the Fire can you see the cover (i.e. first image)?

I will need to find the fire tablet some where in this mess of a bedroom and then give it a try. I will let you know how this look once done. Otherwise this is turning out pretty good so far. I only renamed a few last night to see how things would look and so far there pretty good.
I think I will remove the Baki from the libraries>PDF>Ebook and just make a Manga folder inside the Libraries>PDF>Manga>Baki this way there a bit more organized I think. |
