is it safe to update my Kindle for PC?
I have been using Kindle for PC 1.17.0 and I wanted to know if it's safe to download the current version, or is it still hard to import books into Calibre if I update it. ALso, has the DRM changed?

You might want to check the Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 and KFX in calibre which still is the best place to ask this question. |

Thanks! I love my Kindle books, but sometime the authors have bad formatting, and I change it.

You don't need Kindle for PC of any version. You have a PW3. You can use the Download and Transfer via USB option under Manage Content and Devices. You can still remove the DRM.

If you find the word pathetic to be an uncomplimentary word, why did you use it? I didn't use it.

If I had said "run over 50% formatting that sucks", would you have responded as you did? |

If you update you will lose the ability to use calibre to remove DRM ( so I been told)

My biggest pet peeve is opening a book and seeing the following: Spaces between paragraphs Line heights more than 1.30 Indents less than 1.5 If that happens, I have to stop and fix it. Then if I get into the story and come across the following, I have to make a decision to DNF or try and push through with either editing or glossing over. Overuse of a phrase or specific word - I swear one author used the word "trotted" in any place where any derivative or walk or went. "We trotted over to the table" "We trotted down the hallway", "I trotted over to him"....drove me nuts. This particular author used a lot of the same words or phrases througout the books so much that I ended up going into them and doing search and replaces, and still ended up dropping the series. Even using a single word will throw me off so much that I will DNF the book One New Adult series had the heroine calling her underwear "skivvies". Seriously, it's an erotic romance and she's calling her underwear "skivvies" more than once. I had to DNF because I couldn't get past it. While another author (whose work I adore) would always use the term "black boxer-briefs" anytime the hero stripped down. I didn't notice it at first, but when I did, I became annoyed. I am still comtemplating going in and fixing that. LOL. |

You know, I find it odd that an author who self publishes wouldn't understand that formatting is important. Obviously, they must read a lot and therefore would have an idea of what would be considered bad form in their editing. This is where beta readers come in handy. I wonder if the spaces between paragraphs is a trick they use to pad the page counts.

Also, regarding the downloading and adding it to the Kindle, I haven't tried that. I am so used to just adding directly from the "My Kindle Content" folder. I don't have it in me to go to Amazon and download directly into my folder individually. I think I will keep it as it is. Thanks for the advice though.
I have over 1200 purchased Amazon books, so that is kind of big, plus all the Kindle Unlimiteds. |

Line heights in most cases. I do not even like a line height of 1.2. I prefer much closer spacing. As for indents, I prefer 1.2em. I could live with 1.5em. But I've seen indents as bad as 5%. Now that's awful. |
