Can we upgrade the DR1000S to Chinese version

hi,everyone.

I am Chinese user, according to what i need,i think DR1000s is the right choice for a bigger display screen.

but the problem is that Chinese cant be displayed in that,Iliad has the Chinese version which results the co-operation with some Chinese software designer.and there are chinese verson of Iliad sold in China. However,it seems different with DR1000.

As i know, there are 2 version of Iliad:Asian /Europe,we can update Iliad for the Chinese font core via connetting the server.but Europe version can't.

Is there the difference with DR1000S?
or some nice guy can offer some Chinese patch?

otherwise,i may get a useless tool that can't display chinese, even though i know that embeded PDF file can read on that.

Thanks a lot.Sorry for poor English.

What do you want the patch to provide? Would you elaborate what the current DR1000 lacks and you want it?

Added:
Well, it seems most Chinese users won't appear in Mobileread forum. Your question might not get any attention.

Did I not make it clear?

I want to know if the patch can make it possible for me to read chinese file (not embeded PDF).

I want it for the big display, there is no bigger screen than DR1000S.
I know the what it lacks is the battery issue.
and i think the problem can be handled by new programming.if not ,that is not the main problem.
As i talked,i want to know the Language Patch.

My impression is that the only substantial change made to the Chinese iLiad was the addition of fonts.

It should be possible to add fonts to the DR1000. What Matthijs of iRex said here (in answer to the question "Isn't there method of changing or adding the font?"):
Quote:
Yes there is, but it's not user-friendly and you have to be a bit of a programmer/Linux-connoisseur.
The Linux font-config mechanism is not really ready for fonts on removable storage, so it has to be copied to internal flash. I won't give you details, since I don't want you to screw up your device (although you can always recover it from an SD card with a software update).
Fonts were a pain on the iLiad too, but with the more up to date Linux on the DR1000, they really should not be that hard. So far as I know, no one has looked in detail at the DR font setup. The actual setup is typically defined in /etc/fonts/fonts.conf. If it is configured like the iLiad (i.e. like most Linux systems) user-supplied fonts can go in the directory ~/.fonts and the text file ~/.fonts.conf would define where else they can go (e.g. on the SD card). These files do not seem to exist on the DR1000.

If you can get a Chinese font on the DR1000, FBReader will definitely be able to use it. My guess is that the MOBI reader won't be able to use it, and I'm not sure about the PDF reader.

Thank you very much, the information you gave is the the most valubale thing i get in mobilereader.

I have got something that we can add font in Linux system and as i know DR uses that.

so the Chinese font is not a very difficult problem.

Thanks wallcraft!
