[Kindle Fire HD10] calibre error communicating with device
I have started to come across this really annoying problem.
I have tried various cables restarted both my Amazon Fire HD10 & Calibre yet to no avail. Has anybody come across this? or even better, has anybody got a solution to this please? Below is a copy & paste of the message that I see on Calibre calibre, version 4.13.0 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device Cannot write to file: hr=2147950655 facility=7 error_code=8255 description: One or more parameters are illegal. That is an error communicating with the device. Usually, this kind of error can be fixed by
following the steps below in sequence. First: 1) Try rebooting both the device and your computer 2) If that does not work, find the files driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre on the device and delete them (you can use Windows Explorer or a file manager on the device itself to do this) 3) Reset the device If none of those work, you can use one of the wireless communication methods described here: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...kindle-fire-hd |

I have done all that you said(above) and for a very short while it worked, then stopped working,..........................again. I finally deleted Calibre from my PC, factory restored my Fire HD10,re installed Calibre onto my PC & it worked, for a short while, then stopped working again. Must admit,it is really getting beyond a joke now. The 2 files that you mention "driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre" should they be on a device at all as you mention deleting them. Its fast getting to the stage where I am considering using a different program that may not be as good but at least they will work. |

The reason to DELETE is that they may become corrupted if you don't eject safely. Something is corrupting you Fires files (Calibre is not being corrupted). The usual culprits: A/V messing things up, Malware , User ![]() |

Just remember that calibre does not do anything special when it talks to your device over USB; calibre is just using the connection established by your device and your PCs operating system, accessing the storage device (drive letter) that your PC has established.
calibre is not the problem; it is being affected by issues in the two O/S'es (FireOS and Windows) and the USB connection. |
