PW Jailbroken PW1 - safe to update?

I have a 1st gen PW that I jailbroke today, following instructions on this site. I downgraded to firmware v 5.3.3, applied the jailbreak, installed KUAL, MRPI, Python, and the screensavers hack.

I followed the instructions here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=186645 plus the specific instructions in the various readme files, and everything appears to work - I’ve got my custom screensavers set up, etc.

The one thing I’m not 100% sure of is whether I can now safely take it out of Airplane Mode and possibly allow it to update. I presume it should, since the files I used were from here, and presumably the latest: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=225030

Can anyone confirm for my peace of mind, if nothing else?

Yes you can safely update to 5.6.1.1.

As a follow-on from the above, I've turned off Airplane mode a few days ago and allowed it to connect to wifi, and it's still on 5.3.3 with 'Update your Kindle' grayed out.

Should I just leave it, or is there a force-upgrade process to get to 5.6.1.1, and would there be any benefit in doing so?
