Jacket CSS not working?
Hi everyone.
I hope I am posting in the correct forum. Having upgraded my Calibre to 4.16 on my Mac, I have realised that the settings I have in my css file (calibre>Show Package Contents>Resources>resources>jacket) are no longer being applied. I used to have a blue background on which the title and series name of the book were added in white text. Now, everything is black text on white background. Also, when in the Comments I had coloured text, the coloured text would appear in the generated metadata page. Now, that too is also just black text on white background (though if the text is bold, the text is bold in the generated page). Is this a bug in this version? Thank you. |

You dont change the jacket file inside the calibre package, you change it in the calibre config directory. https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cus...ates-et-cetera

I have followed the link and the article says that for Mac OS, it is in the package that you change the file. Is this no longer applicable?

Having read the article further down, I have created a "resources" folder and placed the two jacket files in the appropriate subfolders as shown in the screenshot.
I restarted calibre and converted a book to EPUB again but nothing happens. Still black and white metadata page. Thank you. |

When you updated calibre you lost the old changes because you made them inside the application bundle. If you make them correctly in the config folder they will work, there were no changes to this in 4.16

Thanks again for persevering with me.
I have a saved copy of the css file and the xhtml file that I always replace in the Packsge contents of calibre.app on the Mac. However, I have made a fresh install of calibre and have taken the jacket files from the newly installed version and copied them into: ~/Library/Preferences/calibre/resources/jacket. I know my path is correct and that the css file woks because I went through the css file and changed all the "sans-serif" statements to "serif" and these changes were reflected in the generated jacket. I also changed the alignment of some of the text and those changes were also reflected in the newly generated epub's jacket. There are two things I can't get to work. (1) When I had coloured text in the Comments, the coloured text appeared in the generated jacket. (2) I can't get the background to change colour. I have attached a pdf showing various files settings etc, as well as a sample of what my jackets used to look like. I hope this helps you work out the problem so that I can stop taking up your time on this issue. I apologise in advance about this. |

Just out of interest, I placed the jacket files on my old Mac Pro running calibre 2.85.1 and everything works as it should. Please look at the screenshot attached.

In the viewer have you turned on the setting to override book colors in Preferences->Colors because if you have then it will override the background color in your comments template. Other than that, it looks fine to me.
