How can I list "latest additions to library" or "latest books edited entries" (library view)
Is there a way to implement an automatic date timestamp field for when was the entry last edited? Scenario: Create a virtual library with latest additions and another for the latest edited The virtual library would have a code like this Code:
timestamp:>5daysago So I would require an individual library:timestamp (even if it would be one that would not survive a library restore!) Last edited by Horus68; 10-25-2019 at 04:23 PM. |

Replying to myself but just for half of the request:
For the "latest added" there are 2 ways to have a list: Go to Preferences / Adding Books / Adding Actions / Untick: - When using the "Copy to library" action to copy books between libraries, preserve the date or - Tags to apply when adding a book (add a tag like "new")... and then create a saved search or a virtual library for that tag (see pic above) Now... what to do to have a list of the "Latest edited"? |

There are two time stamps columns as standard in Calibre - the date the book was added and the date it was last modified. You can click on the column header to sort by that field.
There is also the option to get a standard tag added to the book at the time or is added. I personally add a [TODO] tag that I later remove when I have checked all the cover and metadata are as I want them. |

Last Modifid (all you need to do is unhide that column.
Note ANY metadata change (that affects the book) bumps this timestamp |

To elaborate - a book's Last Modified can get updated 'unexpectedly' - e.g. if you changed a tag name from "Antebellum" to "Pre-1861" all the books tagged "Antebellum" would have their Last Modified Dates set to current timestamp - i.e Now. I have a Last Action/#last_action_date custom column. I edit metadata in the book list cells, so it's easy to maintain. BR |

Is this an automatic change? Not seeing how can i set up a custom column to achieve that! Last edited by Horus68; 10-26-2019 at 02:53 AM. |

Solved (sorry!)... that column was too narrow in the column list for me to see it!
![]() ![]() Now I can use this Code:
last_modified:>=5daysago Last edited by Horus68; 10-26-2019 at 03:07 AM. |

Press F2 in a book list cell, for Date cells press '=' to set to Now, press '-' to set to Undefined (blank). Press Tab to edit next cell, Shift+Tab to edit previous cell. For me, this Tweak makes it easier. BR |
