Question Last Read - Date Column

Since I've started using Calibre one thing I found that could be quite useful would be to have a default column that would sort books by when they were Last read. Is this possible?

I find the Recently Viewed list not extensive enough for some categories where I have many tens of technical books on the same subject matter, and returning to find the correct one after weeks or months later can be difficult. As a result I use a 3rd party application to build references and store clippings, but I think sorting by a Last Read column could be useful in Calibre and increase it's utility.

At first the Modified Column was useful, until I performed some global task that sets the Modified Date the same on all books.

I re-purpose the Date column. I maintain it in the book list by pressing F2 = Enter in Date cells. The '=' key sets a date to Now, and the '-' key clears a date to Undefined. If you want to keep Date as the date book was added to database then create a Date Read/#dateread custom column and maintain that.

The Calibre Companion app can maintain a Date Read column in desktop calibre.
