Cleaning Cloth Cover....

I have a yellow and a navy blue cloth cover for my two Paperwhite 4s. Both are great for me. The cloth gives good grip, the Paperwhite doesn't slide when on a surface with a one degree or more slope, and it's comfortable to use.

My problem is my favorite, the yellow, gets dirty. The light yellow makes it great to find while my navy blue qualifies as camouflage in my home. I set it down and it promptly disappears. Darn near, Harry Potterish.

Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning? I tried laundry powder and a brush and it cleaned it about half-way and it got unacceptably dirty faster than before.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'd try soap and water for the cover, let it dry and then spray the outside with some suede shoe protector if you can find some laying around.

Rather than trying to keep it clean you could get a cover that has a busy design and hides the dirt, e.g.,

I always read when I'm eating alone, which is almost always if you don't count my dog, and I prop my Kindle against a beanbag. The slick, plastic covers slide down on the table. They're also hard for old hands to hold securely. When I bought the Voyage with it's ridiculous cover I bought six other covers and none were satisfactory. I gave the Voyage to a college student.

Have you ever tried cleaning it with alkaline water for cleaning?
In Japan you can buy alkaline water that is meant for cleaning (I think it's stronger than the drinking one). I spray it on the stain on the carpet and leave carpet wet for around 10 mins, then wipe it off with a paper towel. I remove most of the stains that way easily.

You could try an origami cover if you have a compatible Kindle.

I did try the Origami when I got my Voyage. I hated it so much that when I couldn't find a cover I liked I got rid of the Voyage. When I got the Oasis 2 and ordered a cover for it quickly became unavailable. Then I saw a Kindle blurb saying the cover was intended to personalize your Oasis and not protect it. I sent the Oasis 2 back to Kindle.

Covers matter to me. I'm old, clumsy, and have difficulty holding things.

I've never heard of alkaline water and living in Mexico I've never seen it in a store. Any idea how I would make alkaline water?

You've made some mistakes there. You read the description. The description is not always correct.

I have a cover for my Kobo Aura H2O that works very well. Makes
it a lot easier to hold to read.

For the 7" Oasis, I like this one...

If you can find a M-Edge Trip Jacket for Kindle 4 / Kobo touch, it’s a perfect fit for the PW4.
It’s a really nice cover in my opinion.

Here’s one : M-EDGE Trip Jacket Case for Kindle 4/Kindle Touch/Kobo Touch - Pink/Orange https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005NZKK..._XXipDbSZ3QTKA

I never made it myself. There are instructions on internet on how to make it yourself for drinking, but not for cleaning. You can read about it here

Thank you, Lady Stardust, for your time. I read the article and was inclined to try it till I got to the part about needing a $600 to $3000 ionizer.

If you know someone traveling to Japan, Korea or Russia, they could bring it for you. It's just water...

try spray on carpet cleaner ? [ remove the kindle first]

the official amazon cover I have on my Fire HD10 tablet is like cheap blue material stretched over what's probably stiff cardboard. A complete rip off at £25 - frayed around the edges already and the tablet never leaves the room. the fraying is just from holding it/propping it up to stream video.

I just accept that the cover is naff but the tablet inside should be pristine, if ever I try to sell it. Prices for used Fire tablets are very low though because Amazon keep bringing out newer, cheaper models, and making huge price reductions on every prime day/ black Friday, or random throw-of-the-dice lets-have-another-sale day.
the old origami covers were made of a hard plastic which is much easier to clean, and harder to mark
