Paperwhite 4 Battery for Audiobooks

I'm finding it's losing about 15 percent to 20 percent of its battery an hour listening to audio. This sound about right? It's fine otherwise. Anyone have luck where they've left it charging and it will still play an audio plugged in, or will the audiobook only keep working if it's off the charger?

I don't have a PW4, but my Oasis2 does allow listening to an audiobook while charging. The same as it allows reading while charging.

I don't think the Paperwhite does. Whenever Ive hooked it up to charge it always turns off and goes to the lock screen so I can't read on it. I'll mess around on it with audio but it would be nice if it somehow kept playing. Since it deosn't seem to let me turn it on plugged in though, not seeing how. I'm surprised the Oasis works differently but that's good to know.

If it's to a wall charger, there's no visible change besides the battery icon.
To a computer, it switches to mass storage, with a notice that it'll be usable after an eject. Which it is

I'd be mightily surprised if that behavior has changed.

I generally hook up to a computer when charging and using audio at the desk.

I've never charged a Kindle from a computer. Of course, my Paperwhite works fine when it's charging. I have charged my Kindle from a power pack while reading and that worked fine, too. I have never listened to an audiobook on my Kindle. I rarely listen to audio but when I do it's with my cell phone and Bluetooth earphones. I usually get bored. I prefer reading to listening.
