kindle 2 will not communicate with kindle store

My kindle 2 has stopped communicating with the kindle store. Have they stopped supporting the kindle 2

Earlier this month someone in the UK posted something about not being able to connect and I turned wireless on on my K2 (in the US) and got several bars, but did not try to connect to the store.

At the moment, it says 3G but shows no bars and can not connect to the store.

611 in the settings menu returns 3 pages of info, most of which I do not understand, but none of it mentions Sprint. (I think it used to, but it has been years since I typed 611 on it.)

Maybe Amazon quit paying the Sprint bill or Sprint is shutting service down.

I have a landline touchtone phone that is pushing 40 years old that still works. The buttons even light up.

Just dug out and tried mine and it won't connect to the store or to sync.

Mine is the early version that uses Sprint (up to date software 2.5.8 plus the services update installed), don't know if folks with the later version of the K2 that uses AT&T would have any better luck or not.

I do remember seeing some posts a few months back where some folks with Kindle 1's were having trouble connecting (those used Sprint too like the first version of the Kindle 2), but some others could still connect. Not sure what's up. When they tried asking Kindle support they were completely clueless and had no education on those early models so were giving worthless answers out of left field.

My ATT KDX (K2 on steroids) connects fine.

So we still don't know whether it is Sprint or Amazon pulling the plug.

A few years ago you had to update older kindles for the last time otherwise you wouldn't be able to connect to the store or the cloud. Go here https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...deId=200529680 and download the update manually then transfer to your kindle and update.

That is probably worth a try, but if the K2 was connecting until recently, is probably not going to work. I think the cutoff was several years ago.

My K1 stopped connecting to Kindle Store about 3 years ago (and I had previously applied the update). I have not bothered to contact support about it, but it is sort of sad, it gets a 4 bar signal and is able to update the time from the cellular network, but that’s it.

The last updates were 2016 so if you updated before that try again and maybe it will connect.
