Connect to Wifi without internet

Hello,

I am wondering if it is actually possible to connect to a local Wifi-Access Point, that is not connected to the internet.
When I try this in the network connections it gives me a message that the connection failed since the Wlan could not access the internet.
I dont get the option to keep connected, just to cancel.

In my current setup I'd need the kindle to connect to a local network over wifi and read some data.
