PageEdit Spellcheck
Hello,
I'm using PageEdit 1.1.1 and in edit mode many of the red underlined words are correct. Is it possible to remove the underline from these numerous words, allowing me to better view the incorrect ones. Thank you |

Spellchecking is all based on the Google Chrome spellchecking dictionaries that are modified versions of Hunspell dictionaries and as of now still do not allow or use a custom wordlist.
Is this US English? If so what correctly spelled words is it marking incorrect? |

Where are you getting the Chrome binary en_GB dictionary from. People's names are never going to be in the dictionary. There is no document specific user dictionary. You should probably do all main spellchecking inside Sigil and not in PageEdit. Then you can turn off spellcheck if you want in PageEdit if it bothers you.

The en-GB dictionary shipped with Page Edit is: okay with 'grey' (the colour), not okay with 'gray', okay with 'Gray' (the name). There maybe similar cases.
BTW - ff you change the dictionary in Preferences you have to restart PageEdit. I suggest a note after the dropdown - something like, "Change will take effect after a Page Edit restart" Wash your hands - BR |

@DiapDealer & @KevinH would it be very difficult to add qwebengine_convert_dict.exe as a build target for the Windows version? |

As already mentioned above, there is currently no way to customize the dictionaries that PageEdit is using for its spellchecker.

What is it that is 'GB English'? The book itself, the dictionary setting in PageEdit, or both. The dictionary can be selected in File->Preferences->General Settings:
AU and CA dictionaries are here ==>> https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src..._dictionaries/ BR |

Plus, if you're building PageEdit on Windows, the conversion utility is already a requirement for packaging the PageEdit installer. I suppose we could distribute the exe with the installer package. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-22-2020 at 02:28 PM. |

(I know that most users will probably use Sigil for spellchecking, but it's always nice to have other options.) |

I don't think he was talking about converting Sigil's user word lists. I don't think that would even be possible. I believe he was talking about using the conversion utility to convert custom hunspell dictionaries.
Custom user spell-check word lists for PageEdit aren't currently on the radar. Not that I know of anyway. |

Given the names used by many authors (I read mostly SF and Fantasy), the chances of finding them in any dictionary are pretty poor and I tend not to add them to a user dictionary if one is available. In one book, it's a name while in almost every other book, it's a typo.
Check the output of the SciFi Name Generator as an example. Last edited by DNSB; 03-22-2020 at 09:47 PM. Reason: added reading genres |

@BetterRed
It's possible to permanently add a user dictionary to a .bdic file during conversion. If qwebengine_convert_dict finds a file with a .dic_delta extension in the same location as the .dic file, it'll automatically add the words to the main dictionary. (Ideally, .dic_delta entries should also have morphology codes, but simple word lists will also work.) For example, if you convert en_US.dic to en_US.bdic and en_US.dic_delta contains the following entries: Code:
