Device: Kindle PC App
Downloading Books from Amazon Kindle Library

I'm new to using Calibre and I am having an issue with my Amazon Kindle Library.
I only use a Kindle app on my PC and tablet. I purchased a few new books from the Amazon store. I want to load them into my Caibre library. When I go to my Kindle library on Amazon and try to download a book to the pc I get a message stating "The title chosen is not compatible with any of your devices." The devices are grayed out and I can't select my PC Kindle.
So I am unable to download the book into the Kindle Library on my PC, thus not able to transfer to the Calibre library.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I believe that you need to have an eInk Kindle registered to download from My Content and Devices. You will need to use Kindle for PC to download them to the My Kindle Content directory in Documents. You will need to follow the instructions in the following thread to use Kindle to PC to download files you can easily read into Calibre instead of KFX files:

To read the books in the Kindle app, you can download them within the app itself - look at "Archived" material, or sync new material (from memory). If you look in the Kindle Library folder it creates, you will see a lot of gibberish-named files and folders. If you are lucky, some of the books may download in a format Calibre can handle (.azw for example), but more likely, they will have the new kfx format - have a look at the sticky here

to see how to get round that.

Depending what you want to do with your books, you may also need apprentice Alf's help too (google him)

Hope this helps
Liz

(oops, parallel post, but you CAN read them without a physical kindle device)
