Edit Metadata Copy Paste Weird Behaviour

I'm Using Calibre 3.6 and have come across a change in the copy/paste behavior.
What's Happening: I'm editing the title, publisher, and series of books and use copy/paste frequently to correct or add missing information. What I frequently do is copy some information from the title field, and paste it either in the publisher or series. This issue is that I used to be able to highlight information, copy it, then highlight whats in the series field, and paste to replace it. I can't do this any more. I have to have my cursor on a blank space before the paste will work.
The behavior of not being allowed to paste over highlighted information seems to be recent to me.
Is anyone else having this issue? It seems to be happening in all the edit metadata fields.

I cut and paste as you mention, frequently.
What I don't TRY is to overwrite selected text, just insert between words. That works :W10 x64

Works fine for me with calibre 3.6/64 on Windows 10 Home. I tried doing what you said on the book list and in the edit metadata window.

In case it matters, I am using a "real" mouse, not a touchpad or a touch screen.

I'm using a mouse, on Windows 7 64bit and Calibre 3.6 64 bit.

I tried this again today, before I started loading books, and everything was OK. (Sigh...) I tried after loading books to and everything was OK too.

I need to restart Calibre whenever I *think* I have a problem. Today I'm not seeing this behavior at all. Everything is fine now.

I'll keep an eye out to see if this happens again, but at this time, it seems I hit a really weird set of conditions to trigger this to happen. What can I say, I'm good for weird inconsistent problems.

So for now, this can be ignored unless I can figure out what I did to set this off.
