Newb question
I have two different versions of code. This one
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <title>Crack The Depression Code</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/> <link href="../stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <link href="../page_styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> </head> <body class="calibre"> <div class="booksection"> <p class="chap-img"><img src="images/ix.jpg" alt="img" class="calibre2"/></p> <p class="chap"><b class="calibre4">FORWARD</b></p> <p class="noindent"><span class="drop">H</span>ello my Name is Bryan Forsythe, and official disclaimer’s aside, I’m intimately familiar with what you may be going through. Debilitating panic attacks? Life changing depression? Mania? Yep. For sure. Though I’m not positive when I officially started feeling, “not quite right”, after dealing with illness for 30 years, I truly want to help.</p> <p class="indent1">See, like many I ignored all the warning signs and it nearly killed me. So, I decided sharing all the secrets which have worked for me was the right thing to do.</p> <p class="indent1">But you say..</p> <p class="indent1"><i class="calibre7"><b class="calibre4">Can this book REALLY help you crack YOUR depressive cycle, enabling you to start living and loving again??</b></i></p> <p class="indent1">YES!!. After years of working through every depressive phase, from the run of the mill kinda down days, to the I don’t even want to pet my dog gloom, I’ve been through it all. Confidently I say with your PERSISTENCE and COMMITMENT, relief is completely possible.</p> <p class="indent1">It is my sincere desire that this document will enable you to get back to, or start doing the things, you are passionate about.</p> <p class="indent1">So…</p> </div> </body> </html> What kind of code is this? Yesterday I copied and pasted the above code so I if need be I could just past all of my code in. Now I open Calibre, and after converting my file to both epub and azw3 neither of them look like the above code. What in particular is "mbp_pagebreak this appears to be a key difference between the two kinds of code. Thank you for your help <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head><meta charset="UTF-8"/> <title>Crack The Depression Code 2nd Ed</title> <link href="../styles/0001.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <link href="../styles/0002.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> </head> <body class="calibre"> <p class="calibre_9"><img class="calibre_17" id="filepos5994" src="../images/00002.jpeg"/></p><blockquote class="calibre_2"><blockquote class="calibre_3"><span class="calibre1"><span class="bold"><span class="calibre_1">FORWARD</span></span></span></blockquote></blockquote><p class="calibre_18"><span class="calibre4"><span class="calibre_1">H</span></span>ello my Name is Bryan Forsythe , and official disclaimer’s aside, I’m intimately familiar with what you may be going through. HTML with 2@ CSS files
You need to take a few , and learn some basic CSS You are mostly concerned with the(HTML/CSS) stuff between the <body> tags |

Hi! Thank you for you response. If you could help me understand how to get back to the book format which uses the first coding type, then I would be eternally grateful.

The key word in your post is "converting". When you do conversion, calibre rewrites the code. This includes renaming the styles. This happens because it would be virtually impossible to not need to rename something during a conversion. There is no way to stop this from happening except to not do a conversion.
As to the "mbp_pagebreak", I usually associate that with a conversion from a MOBI or other Kindle format to an ePub. But, as your first sample looks like code from an epub, I assume it was an epub-to-epub conversion, so I don't know where it came from. |
