Matador by the late British author Marguerite Steen (Wikipedia), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature whose works enjoyed a period of popularity in the 1930s and 1940s, is her vintage literary fiction family drama novel with both suspense and f/m romance elements (according to the Amazon categories), set in Spain during the 1930s and centred around the conflicts in a matador family between a man and his sons—one following in his famous bull-fighting father's footsteps, the second an outcast cripple, and the third and favourite hiding a dark secret, as you do—as they clash in their life expectations and also over a young woman betrothed to marry one son, but who catches the eyes of both another son and their widower father, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Odyssey imprint.
