invalid cover
What constitutes an Invalid Cover when creating a catalog? I seem to have a lot. They display fine when I move them from the Calibre lib to my devices or when other users grab copies via the web or email. If there is a size limit can they be fixed en mass?

some further cover file info.
calibre, version 2.83.0
WARNING: Invalid cover files: Catalog generation complete, with warnings. Warning: invalid cover file for 'Big Driver', default cover substituted. When I re download the covers it cures the warning but I have hundreds of invalid files in the library. Is there a global fix? |

When I display the warnings I re download the cover for one of the titles and when I redo the catalog that one will disappear. Is it possible I have an incorrect setting somewhere else? This is no huge deal for me as I said it seems the covers get to the devices. It just offends my OCD, lol. |

@leeper - the only thought I have is that the catalog-generation configuration data is somehow corrupt.
If you are on Windows, the simplest way to test that theory would be to install Calibre Portable somewhere. Close your installed calibre, run the just-installed portable, hook it up to your library via Library->Switch/create and trying setting up and running the catalog. If it works OK, then that would verify my 'corrupt catalog-generation configuration data' theory. If not, then the problem must be within your library - when did you last run Check Library? @leeper - you can find the calibre configuration folder via Preferences->Miscellaneous->Open configuration directory. If you then close calibre and rename the directory to <whatever>_save, then when you restart calibre it will take you through the welcome wizard. After hooking up your existing library you can test by setting up and running the catalogue.
If that works you'd need close calibre, and edit the gui.json file in <whatever_save> to remove the catalog generation settings, before reinstating <whatever_save> as the original configuration folder. I don't know enough about catalogue generation to suggest what you'd need to remove. BR |
