I get connected to my iPad via wireless connection. Then CC says "Connected, Starting initial sync." Then, after about 30 seconds I get the message in the upper left-hand corner of the screen "Disconnected from Calibre." No books are shown.
What gives? |

But I suspect your network (device) configuration might be an issue. There are LOTS of IOS versions in use without this issue. Have you put the MAIN Calibre in debug mode to capture a LOG of what is happening? Post that (Please wrap in [spoiler] tags) |

Sorry, I have trouble keeping up with CC after it stopped being my main job a few months ago. As theducks wrote, if you post up the debug log from Calibre we might be able to find what's wrong. Also, you can email me a log from CC itself from the bottom of the settings menu.

Also, and if you haven't already done it, send a debug log from CC. |

What I really want is list of titles and authors of the books I have in Calibre on my iPad. I don't need all the other info although Series would be nice too. I assumed (I know, assume nothing) that CC would provide this. |

I need to see the Calibre log since the CC log only tells half the story. What I can see in the log is that you've tried to connect a few times in both Wireless Device mode and Content Server mode. Most of the time, CC thinks it finds Calibre but then it doesn't manage to complete the connection. In more technical terms, CC sends a broadcast on your WiFi network, receives a response from a computer at IP address 192.168.0.8, and then nothing happens for 15 seconds after it tries to connect. The strange part is that it manages to get an answer of some kind, and then fails to connect. I know the post is long, but there's some advice in this FAQ page that might help: http://cc_faq.multipie.co.uk/index.p...d=7&artlang=en The more general FAQ on connections is here. Quote:
"Content Server" is more of a way of browsing the books on Calibre without transferring them. It shows you a list of the books available and you can download them one at a time. This works better for a small number of books, or if you can connect to your computer without being physically in front of it. |

And while this id the Calibre Companion forum
![]() If all you really want is a Listing... Calibre has 2 paths that you can copy to your device The Command line tools:calibredb -list <options> (just a listing) or The create a Catalog (book) on the Convert menu (also has cover thumbnails)

Steve, I sent you a private message with the debug file.
Theducks, many thanks. As I said, not very proficient with Calibre. The Create Catalog from the arrow next to the Covert menu did the trick. Now have an eBook with all I want. Last edited by The Old Man; 04-12-2017 at 07:39 PM. Reason: Note to ducks |

I'm typing while walking so have to be brief: I'm confused about that debug log because it shows the connection working properly. Calibre connected to CC on "[your name]'s iPad mini 4". It then went through the expected startup synchronisation. I can only assume it worked this time, but not before. Did you change something or is your network just being intermittent? Remember, once you're connected as a wireless device, you send books by clicking buttons in Calibre on your computer.

No, I did not change anything but I suspect the problem may be with the network or security setting on my Windows 10 PC.
The Connect Device toolbar never shows up. While CC shows connected and is trying to connect (little wheel spinning) there is no change in Calibre on the PC. It does not switch to main menu number 2 - that normally shows when a device is connected. Send to Device icon is not shown. I am going to try to connect on another PC or perhaps you have some suggestion as to what network/security setting I should change? |

Beyond what's in the FAQ, I don't have anything else to suggest. I've never seen a situation where Calibre's log shows a successful connection but where the user interface wouldn't update to give you the connected device options. This is perplexing!
